Treasure….Houston’s GCA Major Flower Show

Houston Flower ShowHouston’s GCA Major Flower Show attracted accomplished designers from all over the US.

Anemones and tulipsMany designs were distinctive and helped to create a wonderful show.

Icelandic moodIceland, in the exhibition table class, evoked with glacier rocks and shimmering orchids.

Rustic iron and callasSecond place in Museum Gems with rich rusted iron and mango callas.

plants and wiresThis design interprets the necklace just seen in the top right corner.

birds in flightFans of Project Runway recognized the fashions of Chloe Dao.  This dramatic design captures the sweep of the bird print on the gown. The swooping ‘birds’ are created with colored cable ties.

Chloe Dao gownAnother Chloe Dao creation captured with origami in plexi with a sweep of tulips.  This class was so strong the judges gave it a class commendation.

Glorious gownHawaii’s finest blooms in an inspired design and dress.  Notice how the museum hung a similarly hued painting in the gallery to complement both.

chiffon and painted vaseSimmering chiffon is reflected in this layered underwater design.  The surface of this glass vases is sponged with the colors in the fabric.  Hats off to Houston.
