Houston’s GCA Major Flower Show attracted accomplished designers from all over the US.
Many designs were distinctive and helped to create a wonderful show.
Iceland, in the exhibition table class, evoked with glacier rocks and shimmering orchids.
Second place in Museum Gems with rich rusted iron and mango callas.
This design interprets the necklace just seen in the top right corner.
Fans of Project Runway recognized the fashions of Chloe Dao. This dramatic design captures the sweep of the bird print on the gown. The swooping ‘birds’ are created with colored cable ties.
Another Chloe Dao creation captured with origami in plexi with a sweep of tulips. This class was so strong the judges gave it a class commendation.
Hawaii’s finest blooms in an inspired design and dress. Notice how the museum hung a similarly hued painting in the gallery to complement both.
Simmering chiffon is reflected in this layered underwater design. The surface of this glass vases is sponged with the colors in the fabric. Hats off to Houston.
