Philadelphia Flower Show….blimey!

"Brilliant" crestBlimey….It’s show time!  The always anticipated Philadelphia Flower Show ushers in March and Spring.  This year’s theme, ‘Brilliant’, is a tribute to everything British.

"Brilliant" gateA pair of floral gates welcomes the quarter-million people who flock to the show over nine days.

Big Ben BrilliantFrom the gates, they walk down the red carpet leads to Big Ben.

vibrant lilyMagnificent flowers throughout the show capture the floriferous UK and its heritage of glorious gardens.

Alice in Wonderland“Alice’s Tea Party” brings the Lewis Carroll favorite to life complete with a croquet lawn with chrysanthemum croquet balls.

bridge arrangementFrom Alice’s table to this trophy table….the lush roses and vines wind their way across these handsome trophy-like vases.

Vibrant color two part designThis two level design uses the almost neon colors of mitsumata branches.

Scottish moorA foggy Scottish moor is celebrated with this ‘wall’ of heather, Spanish moss, orchids and branches.  Notice the spiny looking loops which are circles of white cable ties!

Philadelphia bouquetProteas, orchids and other tropicals in a warm palette create a lush symmetrical design.  It’s not your mother’s flower show ……

    Beautiful!! I think I like foggy Scottish moor best. That Big Ben bonanza is quite the show but seems out of character. Hope you continue to have fun!!
