“Selections from the French Sketchbooks”

The Maitre inspired me with his book, Donald Jurney: Selections from the French Sketchbooks, in which he gathered together his French drawings now scattered in collections across the globe.  Hearing about this successful foray into the world of online publishing, I figured I would try it too.  Check his out:

flowerflinging:SummerFor flowerflinging:Summer I selected all the floral design posts from my blogspot archive which ran from June to September, 2012.  These include When Pot meets Fleur, Mum’s the Word, A Tisket a Tasket a Chix Basket, The Vase Stands Alone and more.

flowerflinging:SummerOf course, the impetus for everything, 33112, Beginning with a Wedding, began the world of blogging for me and now opens the book.

flowerflinging:SummerOn one can move blog posts directly into a book.  This is called “slurping your blog” – truly.  Their book smart program makes it easy to create a professional looking book and it’s lots of fun too.

Susan DetjensOnce I had the book set up, I printed it out to see it all together.  I spread it out on the dining room table to see the spreads life-size and whether it ‘flowed’ or not.

Susan DetjensI added more of my drawings to keep the mood light and fun and to ‘open up’ the book.  The beauty of the blog is that its format works easily in many of the picture/text layouts.

flowerflinging:SummerThe interesting part of self-publishing is that these books are on demand.  You may make one and order it.  Later on, order more.  You may offer it for sale.  Each book ordered becomes printed on demand, so there is no inventory so to speak. The downside of self-publishing is that the book, even a small soft-cover as this one, becomes expensive fast, especially if, like me, you are fussy about the paper used.  To share it, I am offering it for just pennies (56, count ‘em) above the cost.  Follow this link:
